Matet is one of the 19 municipalities included in the Natural Park of the Sierra de Espadán. Of the 1,485.23 hectares of the municipality, 84.34% (1,208.03) are within the scope of competence of the Park. However, along with these natural values, its long history gives it a rich and varied cultural heritage that has been recognized in different catalogs such as the Torre del Pilón, the archaeological protection spaces, the Hermitage of Santa Bárbara, the Parish Church of San Juan Bautista and the “Nevera de Carro”.
In addition to this heritage, recognized in the different catalogs, there is another abundant and that reflects the relationship that the inhabitants of Matet have had with their environment throughout history.
